Why "Bad" Feelings Are a Goldmine
Jun 23, 2022Hi Gorgeous,
I am so stoked to write about today's topic because it's a fabulous lesson I've been reminded of this week.
If you're anything like most people, even the slightest inconveniences throw you off your game.
I know that whenever I had a bad day or bumped into someone who wasn't exactly on my Christmas list, it used to put me in the worst mood.
I'd sometimes shut down emotionally and go as far as canceling my entire day. I wouldn't do anything but wallow and cry and remind myself why my life was awful.
And then I went the complete opposite way. Do you know that meme? With the little dog sitting in the middle of a fire drinking coffee saying, "fine, everything's fine," yeah, that one…
I turned into him.
I completely started ignoring all the things that were making me mad. You know, normal things like human emotions.
I had convinced myself that I'd have to focus on the good if I were really serious about healing my trauma. It didn't matter how life smacked me around. I'd just shrug it off and get "HAPPY" everything was always fine.fine.fine.
But of course, it wasn't.
It wasn't until I realized there was buried treasure underneath all my "bad" days and "bad" feelings.
What do I mean by that?
Well, let's start with a big one. Let's say you have a terrible day. The worst kind where your boyfriend brakes up with you, or you lose your job, or you run into the person that abused you.
What all these things have in common is growth. And not just "learn from it growth" but beautiful "this is the sign that really good things are coming" growth.
Think of it this way… When you buy groceries, what usually happens? You don't always get to just put the fresh food away, right? Sometimes you have to throw away the rotten food to make space for the new one.
So whenever you lose something big, it's usually the Universes way of helping you make room for something much, much better.
Now, let's say you keep experiencing the same problem over and over. Have you ever heard the expression: First God throws a pebble, then He throws a stone, and then He throws a boulder?
Repeating the same cycles of abuse or problems means you have a lesson to learn. And if you don't try to learn it, it keeps repeating itself over and over.
So by being aware that you're stuck in a cycle, you're actually able to get a lot of clarity into the biggest hurdle in your life. Thus you can start making a plan on how to begin healing.
And my favorite ones are what I call "les petite angries" – I have no idea why I call them that; just humor me here. I call them "the little angries" because I picture them as a gang of little angry ninjas in my brain, throwing fits at any moment's notice.
They are jealousy, frustration, and fear.
And I've learned to love these little guys because they bring THE BEST insights into my life.
For Example,
Jealousy- It helps me see what I really want in life. Do you ever feel like you don't really know what you want in life? Well, jealousy is a great way to figure out what your soul yearns for. Because you really want something someone else has.
The good news is you don't ever have to be jealous of anyone. Absolutely anything anyone has, you can have too. You can have love, money, material things, a family, and trips. You just have to take your focus off them and focus on how to make it possible in your own unique way.
Frustration. I love frustration because it's sort of like the traffic officer re-redirecting your route. Frustration is your soul's way of telling you that you are not in alignment. You need to go back to the drawing board, regroup, and devise a different plan that makes you happy.
Fear- Fear is exciting because (aside from genuine "a life is in danger" fear) fear is a sign you're about to try something new. It means you're pushing yourself to do something way outside your comfort zone. Usually, on the other side of that fear is a big fat beautiful reward.
So next time you have "bad" feelings creeping into your mind- embrace them, feel them, and use them.
That's all for today, loves. If you haven't already, please subscribe because I have SO MANY amazing things coming for members, including GIFTS!! So get excited, and Sign UP!
Love,
Edna
